What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Pine Hills Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Mision
Practicing the way of Jesus, together, for the renewal of the city.

Vision
We believe that we can partner with God in the mission of the church by living our life daily around three things:

Be with Jesus.
Become like Jesus.
Do the things Jesus did.

Values
Simplicity.
Community.
Growth through Practicing the Way of Jesus.
Serving the city by partnering with God’s vision of the  renewal of all things through our vocations, as well as service to our neighborhood and our city.

We desire to be a church community where people can:
Come to know Jesus through His life-giving practices.
Find healing from past hurts and wounds.
Connect their giftings to God’s mission of renewal of the city.
Essential Beliefs
We believe that the church’s calling is to unite around the essentials of faith in Jesus and hold humbly all other secondary issues.

We believe that there is one God eternally revealed to the world in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; by Him were all things created.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His victorious and atoning sacrifice through His crucifixion and His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that because of humanity’s total inability to save themselves, salvation is by God's grace alone; it is received through sincere godly repentance and a wholehearted acceptance of Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. They are made new and are being made new through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the present and personal ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is empowered to live a Godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those that are saved are resurrected to eternal life and those that are lost are resurrected to eternal separation from God.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. The local church provides opportunities to gather around the bread and cup, to learn from the Scriptures as we grow in our apprenticeship to Jesus, to worship, and respond to the work of God in our lives, and to re-engage the culture by being the tangible presence of Jesus for the renewal of the city.
Pine Hills Church affirms historic teachings of Christian orthodoxy as verbalized in the following creeds.

Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God the Father, Almighty creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead. On the third day, he rose again; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life-everlasting.

Amen.

Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of Gods, Light of Light, very God of every God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

I believe in the Holy [Spirit], the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.

I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.
